SAGIA Launches Knowledge Management System

Saturday, June 10, 2006

H.E. Amr Al Dabbagh, Governor of Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority (SAGIA) launched the new Knowledge Management System aiming at creating and sharing knowledge throughout the organization.

With this system, SAGIA employees will be able acquire the type of knowledge necessary to do their job more productively. This is the first phase of SAGIA's plan to use IT in decision support system and strategic planning.

The new system, which has been developed using SharePoint technology from Microsoft, will offer one single platform for all departments to store their data and to facilitate reaching them in a timely manner. The system also automates and monitors repetitive work processes such as requests and reports and enables project teams to communicate and collaborate more efficiently, no matter where each team member is located. This, in turn, will help all employees finish their tasks faster with the highest quality possible. SAGIA has trained all its top executives and senior mangers on using the new system in their daily business.

Mr. Basel Al Jabr, of Interactive Saudi Arabia Ltd., the company which developed and implemented the new system, said that it was an honor for the company to have been trusted with developing the first knowledge management system in a government agency in Saudi Arabia. 'SAGIA is one of most forward thinking government agencies in Saudi Arabia and has been very active in deploying the latest technologies to empower its staff.' Mr. Al Jabr added.
